Back in Cambridge
Cambridge feels weird without 'Good Fren'. Maybe it's the jet lag.
He left me some apple and orange juice, 3 skinless chicken thighs and some long beans.
Yesterday, I went to town to buy a hairbrush. I left mine in Singapore. (Mummy, if you find it, you can throw that away. I've been using it for years.)
I was over optimistic about the weather. I thought the Wallabies were gonna protect me from the terrible UK cold.

It's a gift from the Australian client. It felt really warm when I put it on. Nothing can shield me from the British chill. =_=
Dropped by Judge Business School to pick up a book from the library. Chatted with some poor souls who were still struggling with their GCP presentation before heading for John Lewis in search of the hairbrush. In the end, I bought one with wooden bristles from the Body Shop.
Just as I was getting of Marks & Sparks, it started to rain heavily. =_= Oh well... I shall have to hop into GAP for some shopping till the rain stops.
I think the rain made me hungry. Since the Cambridge Waffle Company is finally in operation (our earlier attempts to eat there ended in disappointment), I decided to have a waffle.

Their waffles are named after the colleges in Cambridge. I had a Robinson. Somehow it's less tasty than I'd expected. Maybe because 'Good Fren' was not with me. =_=
Came by the college and surfed the net quite a big. Watched many youtube videos. Including that one about Susan Boyle. I must say I am nauseated by the reactions of people to Susan Boyle's performance. If Susan Boyle had looked like the Spice Girls/Cecilia Cheung/Penelope Cruz, I pretty sure no one will cry watching her sing.
These images of the ideal we have been ingesting have distorted our ability to distinguish why something is appealing. I read an article about 2 weeks ago about how porn deadens desire. Using the analogy of fast food, the article claims that
"If your appetite is stimulated and fed by poor-quality material it takes more junk to fill you up."
Just like how females can't keep up with porn stars, males can't keep up with gallant princes/rock stars.
Tried to finish the Great Gatsby, but fell asleep at around 6.30pm. If I remember correctly, the fire alarm went off at around 11.30pm and a quick thought of jumping from the window if it turned out to be a real fire. Damn those people who burn food, instead of cooking it, in the common kitchens.
.......................................................
Woke up at 5am this morning. Almost choked on some bananas with nutella and clementines because there was an email in my inbox that said that Anthony Giddens would be giving a lecture in Cambridge in a few weeks!! Climate change isn't my cup of tea, but I have to see the man who wrote my Sociology textbook.
'Good Fren' had booked a blood test for me at 10.30am. Was supposed to do it before I left for Brisbane, but couldn't because of timing. Thought about the draining of blood and the light-headedness which would accompany it, and hesistated to make my way to Mill Road. I didn't want to pass out along Mill Road without 'Good Fren' around. But I guess it's important to eliminate the possibility that the skin problems are symptomatic of a liver problem. Fixing another appointment would mean more delay. So I hopped onto my bike and peddled furiously.
The nurse was really warm and nice. While she extracted blood from my left arm, we found out that we had a pair of cats each and were slaves to them.

This is the part where Angry Doc is gonna get pissed off. The British nurse suggested that I should give Chinese medicine a try because 'Western medicine does not tackle at the overall well-being'. =)))
I was expecting to pass out, but I didn't. So I made my way to the city centre and had a slice of clotted cheese cake and pot of tea.

I sat there for about 30 minutes and watched many females stop at the Karen Miller display window. All age and size. They were looking at a specific pair of shoes. It would have been a great 30 sec ad.

In no hurry to go anywhere, I made use of my student card to visit a few colleges. After the first two, they started to look the same, and the space by my right felt more empty than usual.
